Grey Gets Locked Up In Prison - Part 3: Getting Caught
Friday:
After sleeping horribly and waking up every 45 minutes not knowing what time it is and no phone to check, the lights in my cell come on and a guard shouts “GOOD MORNING! YOU WILL GREET YOUR GUARD AT YOUR DOOR AND THEN FILL UP YOUR WATER BOTTLES!!” in a very cheery voice. It’s way too early for this ug.
Fill up my bottle, hang out with the inmates in the main block before breakfast. At breakfast, everyone noticed the two extremely long pieces of chain on either side of the kitchen block.
Once breakfast wrapped, it was time for chain Gang, which I had signed up for! Changed into a white work shirt, white hat, and boots - I suddenly found myself with a massive loop of chain wrapped firmly around my left ankle in a line with 7 other inmates. We were taught cadence (Left, Left, Left Right Left) and off we went.
Quickly we all learned why you really do have to say that out loud - otherwise you are falling all over each other and stepping on each other’s chain.
We spent 4 hours moving as a unit and clearing the very overgrown sidewalks between the main block and the Ad Seg building. Nature in Florida is terrible and unfortunately once we broke for lunch, my heel injury reminded me I have to not push too hard, so I had to go back inside.
Hung out with a couple inmates and spent some time with C in lockdown, helping to keep his spirits up and joking about my little stunt the night before, since he didn’t really get to see it. He said I was helping to bring sunshine into his cell, because they blacked out his windows earlier. He was great to get to hang out with and get to know.
Dinner was mostly uneventful until a fight broke out right at the end between an inmate and a Guard for an attempt to steal some silverware. Inmate was quickly subdued and placed in the restraint chair, and I secretly (let’s be honest… very NOT secretly) was jealous.
A new routine was established - all inmates have to be searched before returning to the main block after meals. I return to the block, journal a bit, and it’s light’s out for Friday.
Saturday:
Saturday I am up early before the lights are on, and wanting to really start stirring shit up. I tuck my last key still in my cell in my waistband. I am planning to look for an opportunity before breakfast to see if I can somehow cuff someone to the bench or do another funny thing with my own leg cuffs.
Hanging out with the others, no immediate opportunity presents itself. Suddenly we are called to line up for breakfast and I realized I don’t have any good way to put this key back in my cell without getting caught. I immediately broke into a cold sweat, got in line, and off to breakfast I went.
Tried to keep myself distracted and not draw attention to myself during breakfast, as the guards are constantly watching from the catwalk as well as walking around the tables, but I’m honestly nervous. Trying to see if I can get a window to somehow put it in someone else’s pocket, but I just never had one.
Breakfast finished and we are told to line up. I get in the line with the guard that doesn’t have a metal detector and looks fairly new. It’s my turn - told to raise my arms, and I honestly debated just trying to bolt for it, despite my leg cuffs. He does a pat down, checks me, and then….
… nothing. I’m told I’m good and I can go on my way.
“Officerinmate56913requestingpermissionto…”
“WOAH - slow down and say it so I can understand you inmate!”
”Sorry Sir - I have to use the bathroom really bad! Officer, inmate 56913 requesting permission to cross the red line Sir.”
”Granted”
I get back into the main block and I am super stoked I somehow got away with that. I have a whole other opportunity now! Chain Gang goes off to do that again for the day, I have to sit out due to injury, and I am given tasks to do around the prison.
Helped with laundry and other light tasks, and then was given free time. I played actual solitaire with actual cards - I can’t remember the last time I did that. Chain Gang came back in early due to it being 95 in the Florida sun, and so we got ready for lunch.
Still haven’t found my opportunity, but I’m certain it will show itself in due time. Suddenly lunch is called and we line up to go in to eat. I still have the key on me, but I’m emboldened by my experience at breakfast and confident I should be OK.
Lunch quickly came and went and suddenly it’s time to head back to block again. Ooo here comes the nerves again - and there seem to be more guards involved in these ones this time. I naturally sneak to the back of the line to not draw attention to myself.
The guard has a metal detector this time, and I think surely I am boned now. So he runs the wand over me…
… and nothing goes off. I have no idea how I have gotten so lucky, and when he put it down, I audibly sighed. Oops. Guards noticed this and said, “No - search him manually. ARMS UP!” So I lift my arms, and they start the full physical search.
Waistband is pulled out and the key is discovered. Before they could really say much, I tried to bolt. It was pure fight or flight, and there were like 5 guards there at the time. Plus I’m in leg cuffs, so not really sure where I thought that was going to get me except where it did.
Slammed immediately to the ground with my arms pulled behind me and cuffed in the back. Suddenly I feel my legs being wrapped together with duct tape very tightly while two other guards are holding me down to the ground telling me to calm down.
“NO NO NO NO NO NO LOOK I’M SORRY OK” Suddenly duct tape is being wrapped around my mouth / head turning this into MMM MMM MMM MMMM. Warden is called over and says that he needs to see me in his office for a disciplinary hearing. They told the Warden that they just want to loosen me up a bit first. I MMMM even harder.
Suddenly one of the guards legitimately picks me up off of the floor and puts me over his shoulder to carry me off to another part of the prison. I try screaming through my gag and trying to squirm, but it was futile.
On another block, there was a few mattresses on the floor, and I was dropped onto one of them. I then heard a guard say, “Today I’m going to show you all how to put someone in a straightjacket while they are resisting.” I know who he means…
I legitimately tried to fight being put in it. The technique used was masterful and included once one arm was in the jacket, applying handcuffs to keep it in place and secured while you do the other arm. Next thing I know, I’m fully in a straightjacket, on my stomach, legs taped and hog-taped behind me, and a capture hood is thrown over my head.
For the next several minutes, I am roughed up a bit and stepped on by a few of the guards. Yelled at for smuggling a key and interrogated on where I had any other ones. They found my bad tickle spots on my groin, and I started yelling FUCK YOU to them.
This only resulted in more tickling and tons of me thrashing. Suddenly I hear, “Go get the restraint chair - he’s moving way too much.” The chair is brought in, my legs are untaped, and I am picked up and sat down in the restraint chair. Straps go on, legs get secured, and I am now well and truly FUCKED.
More exploitation of my tickle spots. I screamed FUCK YOU through my duct tape gag and capture hood - only half regretting it.
After several minutes, the hood is removed and I’m exhausted and panting through my gag. “We should fix his hair while he’s like this - get the clippers.”
There had been a couple of little spots we missed on my first cut on Thursday. However the #2 guard wasn’t there and the #1 guard was missing a couple of teeth. So the 1/2 guard was chosen instead.
Towel was placed around my shoulders, and my hair was buzzed a second time, but much much shorter this time. Once that was done - a bit more tickle torture, and then I was left to sit and think about the consequences of my actions.
After a while, I was taken out of the jacket, but put back in the restraint chair in cuffs, then returned to the main block with the rest of the inmates while we had free time before dinner. Eventually I was let out and got to hang out with C and some of the other inmates before chow.
Dinner was fairly uneventful. After dinner… not so much. A few of the rowdier inmates had started a fight in the back of the block, and it started to very quickly spread out of control. Suddenly a buzzer went off in the block, which meant all inmates had to drop to the ground, hands behind our head, ankles crossed.
I dropped quickly while the guards took control of the situation in the back. Waiting there on the ground, a guard came by and replaced my leg cuffs and then cuffed my hands behind my back while I was laying down. They did this to all inmates in turn.
Sat up - told to go to the back of the block and wait against the wall for instructions. Eventually things get under control once more, my hands are uncuffed, leg cuffs stay on, and we are put back in our cells for the night.
